Improvement of Ni/Al<sub>2</sub>O<sub>3</sub> Catalysts for Low-Temperature CO<sub>2</sub> Methanation by Vanadium and Calcium Oxide Addition

CO2 methanation is a very promising technology for the production of alternative fuels with simultaneous use greenhouse gases. Therefore, intensive research carried out on optimization catalysts excellent properties operation in area low temperatures. Here, we present catalyst composed 19 wt % NiO supported alumina/calcium aluminate. The was modified V2O5 order to be suited extrusion and scale-up frame power gas technology. Samples various vanadium contents (Ni–xV, where x represents amount vanadium) were prepared form ground granules obtained from 0.5 mm diameter spherical grains. X-ray diffraction (XRD), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), skeletal infrared (IR), diffuse reflectance ultraviolet–visible-near-infrared (DR-UV–vis-NIR), photoelectron (XPS) spectroscopies, as well H2 temperature-programmed reduction (H2-TPR), used characterize samples. Catalytic performances samples tested hydrogenation at 1 atm. Among many Ni our laboratories, V showed high activity, highest CH4 yield 97% 623 K. These exhibited 100% selectivity up 673 studied are attributed possible formation Ni–V solid solution alloy nanoparticles.
